There's a Hole in My Sidewalk: Autobiography in Five Short Chapters by Portia Nelson

Aug. 9th, 2009 | 05:13 pm
Music: Devendra Banhart - Lover | Powered by Last.fm

Chapter One
I walk down the street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I fall in.
I am lost.... I am helpless.
It isn't my fault.
It takes forever to find a way out.

Chapter Two
I walk down the street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I pretend that I don't see it.
I fall in again.
I can't believe I am in this same place.
But, it isn't my fault.
It still takes a long time to get out.

Chapter Three
I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I see it is there.
I still fall in... it's a habit... but, my eyes are open.
I know where I am.
It is my fault.
I get out immediately.

Chapter Four

I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I walk around it.

Chapter Five
I walk down another street.

I dive into the depths of the deep blue, fight gravity and inhabit the nest of a sea polyp. Its wild arms take me in to swallow, pinch my senses to numbness. A pulse. Heavy. Unrelenting. Bobbing my physical and mental entity back and forth. Giddy, yet.. so, so peaceful. And in i go, in i go... Its silky caress domineering.. forceful, yet cautious and gentle. A buffer from all vices and outside-world complications; the threshold of a separate universe: you.

I just deleted all my userpics and all my journal entries. I was going to create a new Livejournal, but this hyperlink is still valid because Shawny likes my username. So this LJ is in memorandum of her.

This is a change and this is the start line.
